Back to normal

Posted by jonazanteo at 08:18 AM on October 15, 2007.

Alright so my blog is back to normal again. It was probably due to tabulas doing maintenance on he site as it stands. With it said I have yet to post after some weeks here in Newcastle. Ok first up we have church. Yes church, and the one that I first attended was St. James, oh yeah the hymns. Nice and so traditional. Cosy. God help me!!! Not to speak bad but it was suffocating in there with not even the Holy Spirit moving are being there at all was what I felt. The format of the entire service, we have teachings and a sermon with also reading of verses from the Bible and sung hymns in between. 5 hymns all in all and the service started at 10:45am and ended at 12pm and according to the lady there, she said that they end earlier usually. END EARLIER!! Anyway that is one church that me and Alvin said we'll not go there again. So the next week we were suppose to find another one called Newcastle Christian Life Centre. So all we had was one contact, a girl named Rachel which Alvin knew. The following week, we did not go, we FFKed her. Oh boy, so dead but the week after that we did go in the end. So our first impression, welcome to Hillsongs Newcastle. Jon and Dee Cook came out of Hillsongs London after being there for 5 years to start a church back here in Newcastle. Currently it is about 200+ members strong and yes the church is noted to be loud but hey worship is the language of heaven, PARTY ON!

That Sunday they did unplug for the entire worship team and for the first time I was thinking whoa cool. So the Friday that followed eventually we attended the international students fellowship which was held at one of the church members house. Ken and Isabelle were the host and boy there were a lot of people there. Now I practically have a 3rd father and 3rd mother. Biological parents are the first, Pas Long and Sis Sherlin were 2nd set and now 3rd set. Well Ken has been asking me and Kings to go over once in a while to jam with the guitars. So we'll probably do it after the assignment which is due on the 22nd of Oct. To further boot Ken managed to get to me and we started talking after church and asked if I played any instrument in particular. Thus now I'm a candidate to join the team but not now until they announce they have a proper meeting place and are asking for new members. The musicians here are really good. As if they are on a totally whole different level from what I know back in Banting. Today most of the people went for the conference in London and Pas Joseph Prince was speaking there and they were really touched. So the bassist and electric rhythm were two Chinese guys and yes they rocked hard like I do for some of you who know what I did back then in Banting.

Well for now that is all from me. More pictures to come at a later date.

Screwed up site

Posted by jonazanteo at 12:28 AM on September 30, 2007.

As much of you have noticed my blog is kinda screwed up in a way. The rolling links on the right and also the tagboard is shot. I am not sure as to why such has happened. If this would persist then I would have to change to another blog site in order to regain back those nutty stuff that I used to have on the right side. On a side note maybe I should post more pictures for all to see then again maybe not as I do not have anything new to write up about just yet.

Classes for me have started since and also I have my assignments and am now waiting for the notice to be posted on whom my supervisor would be for my project. So far my choices for the first 3 are microbiology, toxicology and bioinformatics. Depending on which one I am offered I am in for something new and also yes I have access to tons of scientific journals now for my research and such.

First up is my medical topic research and currently we're studying tuberculosis. Yes an age old disease where it seems that it is coming back and also lots of new things. So far I downloaded around 8 journals and read only 3 of them. Reading scientific papers is not easy, rather it is something that people would find rather boring. So sitting down in front of the computer looking through a paper that is almost 10,000 words long for the next 15 minutes of so is rather boring then again you do learn a lot from them as they have many titles and such. The broad spectrum of what is written and what is available amazes me. Compared to my days in INTI where I did not have much access to scientific stuff and also the poor internet connection which discouraged such. Now is a different issue all in all. Much better as compare to last time. Hehe.

Well lets not bore you with anymore facts as it is. Now I have to think up of what I'm gonna eat for dinner as lunch was rice which I boiled with not enough water and added two raw eggs he moment it cooked Japanese style. That was good but thats something more like for breakfast. So I need to do some shopping at this rate on my own. Really need to get out of this small room.

Night view - Part 1

Posted by jonazanteo at 08:53 PM on September 16, 2007.

As I plug in my phone to the laptop. I hear the whirring of the DVD rom starting up and I access My Computer in order to retrieve the pictures from my phone. Yes its now time to update for night time in Newcastle here. NUO!!! CURSES!! The damn windows can't detect my usb device. Not too sure what is wrong. Trying to connect and reconnect does not help in anyway. Oh well anyway the night scenery is great over here. Beautiful city and lights at night only the streets are kinda empty accept for the area where the clubs and bars are located. Well after the international student party we headed out with some seniors to a place called The Attic. The dance floor was on lvl 2 of the building out of the 4 story building. Man it was cramp but hey thats the fun part of it. Dancing with friends and yeah there was some on the sidelines for dirty dancing which was performed by Jazzy which he was quite good, unfortunately for the other girls who were there other than Maria, they rest didn't quite get down to such as they were kinda scared or rather not used to such. No payment needed though just go in cause we were either students or we brought girls along which qualified for free entry. One night of dancing in the Student Union hall to The Attic was quite and experience. Well the night life here is great as it, no smoking in the building which makes it all the more better and you even have people who break dance also in the club not to mention the club employs some girls to dance on a small platform also to get the party going. Mid way more dancers on stilts came in the hall. Two of them to be exact and that was really something that you do not get in Malaysia. Oh well thats one night.

On to the other nights, I took my group here to visit the millennium bridge and yeah I am kinda the one of the few navigators here to them who can get round town without a map of sorts once walking through and also finding my way around even if its for the first time in the place. We also had the chance to see the bridge rise up courtesy of a boat club which had people partying on board go under and then back again. Thats nice and The Sage, oh yes if you could only see the place at night. Thats one glass dome full of light. In the end we took the bus back to Haymarket interchange for 80p. Some how I'm still not used to not having to use something like a card where I can tap in and out of the bus like when I was in Singapore. So till now I have to get used to carrying more coins with me. Pictures next time I get the phone to connect properly.

Say something!
